Course Overview:
This course will provide a comprehensive practical knowledge in dealing with first aid and emergencies within your organisation. This course is legally compliant with the current Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981. Upon successful completion of this two-day requalification course, first aiders receive certification to qualify them to carry out First Aid in the workplace for three years. The course will be delivered over 3 days.
Course Details
The content of the course will include how to deal with the following:
- Incident Management
- Primary Survey including pad placement
- Secondary Survey
- Bleeding, Shock and Eye injuries
- Choking
- First Aid for minor injuries/major injuries
- Fractions and dislocations/Spinal Injuries/ Soft Tissue Injuries
- 12 Major illness including Heart Attack/Angina?Fainitng/Stroke/Brain attack/Seizures/Diabetes/Asthma/Head Injuries/Extreme Temperatures
- Poisoning and Anaphylactic Shock
- Burns
- Plus more
The course outcome will be that all learners develop practical skills and greater confidence which willl improve their working practice and also interpersonal skills. First Aid skills for inside and outside the workplace.
Course requirements
Any person who wishes to gain a First aid certificate and to be the First Aider in the workplace or a person who has been nominated for first aid duties in the work place. All employers have a legal obligation to make first aid provision for their employers. Learners will need to be able to produce their previous FAW Certificate in date, certificates
You will need to be able to undertake the practical assessments and also revise the course workbook manual during the course.
Course Assessment
There are practical assessements throughout the duration of this course. These are carried out in line with the Health and Safety Executive regulations. Successful candidates receive a Health & Safety Executive (HSE) First Aid at Work approved certificate valid for a further three years.
